Timothy Brandsen

Timothy Brandsen
Tim Brandsen (1975) discovered the double bass by listening to his father's jazz-records. His first music teacher was Simon Planting, bass-player in Mathilde Santing's band. He then followed theory- and ensemble lessons with S. Von Wylick and eventually became a student at the jazz-department of the Rotterdam Conservatory. Here he got interested in classical music and he decided to leave the jazz-department and continue his study at the classical department, where he started following lessons with Hans Krul, soloist with The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Tim is also a member of "The Young Philharmonic", founded by The Rotterdam Conservatory in co-operation with The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and consisting of both professional musicians and music-students.
